An attorney representing the family of Charlie Kirk has filed a formal written notice against the state of Utah, Utah Valley University (UVU), and campus police, alleging severe security failures leading up to his assassination on September 10, 2025. According to the paperwork, the family claims there were major security lapses at the event, which drew thousands of attendees. The allegations state that only six police officers were available, no prior risk assessment was conducted, and no ambulances were on standby—noting that Kirk's body had to be transported to the hospital in the back of an SUV. While the university has acknowledged receipt of the notice, the state Attorney General has declined to comment. A formal lawsuit seeking unspecified damages is expected to follow. Meanwhile, a judge ruled earlier this month that the trial for Tyler Robinson, the man accused of Kirk's murder, will move forward, though an official trial date has not yet been set.
