At the Turning Point USA headquarters in Tempe, red spray paint covered an 8-foot-tall bronze statue of Charlie Kirk, which was unveiled on Sept. 10. The paint covered his face, left hand, hats, and the neck area where he was shot at Utah Valley University, while a sad face was marked on the torso, an X covered his face, and the word "Jesus" was seemingly crossed out. TPUSA announced plans to restore the statue, replace signs, and review surveillance video of the defacement. Erika Kirk responded to the incident, saying that while people think spray paint can obscure her late husband's legacy, it will only spread the legacy more. She added that, "His instinct was always to build, not to destroy," as TPUSA plans to clean and restore the statue.
